We are a few weeks into summer and are loving every minute of our extra time with Daddy, the hot lazy busy days, and long evenings! Trips to the pool, going out for ice cream, and running barefoot through the sprinklers is like medicine for the soul!
One night we discovered baby birds in our pine tree and Chris showed Asher.
I love this picture… one night we decided to head out for ice cream after dinner and Asher said, “Look! We’re holding hands!” Now they love to reach out and hold hands while we’re driving. Love these two sweet boys!!
Last week after the final swimming lesson we took the boys to Conner Prairie for the day. There is a lot to do but Asher’s favorite is ALWAYS the animal barn and who can blame him with these adorable baby animals?! Jesse had fun riding in the wagon for the first time. He did a great job and loved seeing all the sights!
Saturday we went to Carmel’s Farmer’s Market and though I didn’t take any pictures we had a fun (and yummy) time! Thankfully we balanced the Kettle Korn and Cinnamon Rolls with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and sweet corn (which we enjoyed later that evening)!
We had a fun Father’s Day celebrating Chris and the great Daddy that he is to Asher and Jesse! His gift came early as I had some corn hole boards made for him by a retired gentleman I found through craigslist. I waited until the day we went to pick them up and then I told him about the surprise.
On Father’s Day we spent the day enjoying time together as a family.
It was a great day up until……………….. Asher face-planted on the kitchen floor. Lots of blood and tears and one VERY fat lip later he was a pitiful mess. (Why do these things always happen at night and on the weekends??) We talked to the doctor on call and even our dentist and they both advised us to ‘wait and see’ how things went. We’re still keeping a careful watch on his teeth to see if they go gray – but we’re hopeful that he’s healing ok. Poor kid! He was really brave. We knew he was in pain though when he couldn’t eat anything hard the whole next day and a half. Lots of applesauce, popsicles, smoothies, yogurt and his first taste of spaghetti-o’s later, we survived! :)
This week we managed to keep ourselves busy without having to be up and at 'em each morning for swim lessons. :) We are having a great time watching our garden grow and are JUST starting to enjoy the fruits (and veggies) of our labor!
We enjoyed a day at our park and nature center with MOPS mommies and kids. I so enjoyed seeing the other ladies who I’ve missed since the end of MOPS… already looking forward to being back together in the fall!
A funny story about this picture is I came home and told Chris that as teachers we both knew “those kids” who had a story for EVERYTHING and would exhaust their teachers with personal anecdotes… WELL turns out: we have that kid!!!! Asher had a hard time letting the nature lady get a word in edge-wise with all his stories. I was DYING of embarrassment and eventually put him on my lap so I could monitor his “participation” from then on. Good grief! God bless his Pre-school teachers this fall.
Yesterday we had dinner plans with Chris’ co-workers and it was a family cook-out so we REALLY wanted to make sure Asher would nap (since naps are few and far between these days). He is pretty grumpy by bedtime without one so we didn’t want to try to attempt an extra late night sans nap so I took the boys to the splash park hoping to tire him out. Thankfully it worked!!! We had to wake him up at 6:00 so we could leave!!! (It might have to be a daily occurrence! ha!)
Today was supposed to be cooler and less humid so we decided to make a trip to the zoo. It was such a neat day because most of the animals were really active. The lions got up and walked around and even playfully wrestled with each other! Compared to their usual sleepy selves it was an awesome sight! The bear was swimming and playing in his lake with a ball! And Asher got up close and personal with a giraffe when he got to feed it a carrot!
This coming week brings more swimming lessons, new carpet, and lots of normal summer busy-ness! We are also prepping for this sweet boy’s first birthday!!!! Where has the time gone?!
This is Jesse’s new favorite trick… he loves to crawl up in the chair and sit down like a big boy. Then he dives out (face first) and does it over and over and over again; laughing the whole time! Such a funny boy.
Yeah for summer!!
