Jesse, today you are one year old!!
One year ago today we were driving {back} to the hospital {for the second time} and this time we were pretty sure we were going to meet you. We had one more night to think of your name and I’m so glad we settled on Jesse because that is exactly who you are! :)
Your sweet little personality is emerging more and more each day. I think we have another ham on our hands! You smile and wiggle and laugh with your WHOLE body. You think you are so funny and laugh when Daddy, Asher, and I are all talking to you at dinner or trying to get you to say new words.
Your new expression is “uh-oh” but you don’t say “oh” so it’s just “UH!” or “UH-UH!” Every time you do it we laugh so now I think you’re doing it just to be funny. :)
You are a great eater and eat with lots of gusto. Most of the time we can’t even get you food fast enough. Couple your love for food with normal toddler pickiness and I think you are eating more than your brother at lots of meals. It is at meals that you have REALLY found your voice. You have let out some major screams lately at they always happen in your high chair. Here’s hoping they won’t happen in a restaurant!
You are busy busy busy. There is no containing you. You are perpetually getting into everything that you’re not supposed to. And on the off chance you ARE playing with toys; chances are they are the toys your brother is playing with at that moment which doesn’t usually end well. Our days are spent keeping you from climbing the stairs, opening cupboards, and all the other hazards that come along with the joys of discovering the world around you!
You have started taking a few steps, but you are not walking yet. We’ll keep working on it! Then the “real” fun begins!! :)
Jesse you are definitely your own person and though I see glimpses of your big brother in you; you are very different. We look forward to many more days and years of watching who you will become!
And speaking of your brother, he is pretty crazy about you! He loves when you wake up from your nap so he has his playmate back. He loves when you wrestle with him or tackle him. I think you are going to be able to hold your own with him sooner than he thinks! You two laugh and giggle together and it makes my heart just about burst with happiness to see your brotherly love.
Obviously Daddy and I are in love with you, too! I think I will miss having my snuggly baby in the house… but I sure look forward to all the fun big boy stuff that is just around the corner for you! Jesse, your name means: God Exists! We believe that to be true and we long for the day that you believe it and make Jesus Christ your Savior! We pray that you will follow him for your whole life, and we look forward to seeing what He has in store for you.
Happy Birthday, Jesse! We love you SO much! xo xo
