I loooooooove the fall! Love it. Last year we got suckered into buying some expensive pumpkins from Fresh Market because they were the prettiest, shiniest pumpkins I’d ever seen. I know that sounds strange, but they were literally glistening. Others were commenting on how nice and shiny there were, too and people seemed to be buying them like crazy. We asked how they got their pumpkins so shiny (I was seriously expecting to hear some complicated process involving wax of some sort), but to my surprise they told us they sprayed them with cooking spray… like good ol’ Pam!
Soooooooooooo, fast forward to this year. We haven’t made the trek out to a pumpkin patch (yet), but we did go to Menards and found some perfectly adorable pumpkins for a whopping $2.77 a piece (seriously not going to ever pay more than that again.)
We got them home, Asher helped me clean them up with a wet paper towel, and then we dried them really well before spraying on some cooking spray. I used another paper towel to rub it all over the pumpkin and now we have pretty, shiny (cheap) pumpkins!
It probably goes without say, but the downside (should you want to try this at home) is that your pumpkins will be greasy to the touch. They’ll need a good wipe-down before carving.
Happy Fall!
