Jesse, you are a year and a half today!!
In true 18 month form, you seem to be smarter, faster, goofier, and just… older every day! You are talking more and more and stringing a few words together. For what you don’t say, you are able to convey to us and you seem to pretty much understand everything we say to you. The other day Daddy and I were talking about maybe going somewhere (not even knowing you were listening) and you ran and got your jacket. Later that same day I was asking Asher if his feet were cold and if he wanted his slippers and you left the room and returned with your brother’s slippers. :) You surprise us daily with what you know and do.
Something about you, that we didn’t ever experience with Asher, is an asthmatic cough. When you catch a cold it seems to make it worse. You mostly cough at night, but sometimes throughout the day if you’ve been running around a lot. We give you an inhaler a few times a day as a preventive measure, but sometimes you need it in the middle of the night for coughing fits. It makes me sad to hear you coughing and I SO hope and pray that it is something you outgrow. I am thankful though, that you are overall a healthy child.
Jesse, you love Asher and mimic everything he does. We remind Asher (often) of his responsibility to model correct behavior for you, but I’m sure this is only the beginning of my two co-conspirators. :) I think I’m reminded daily that I am (very) outnumbered in this house of boys. Not that I’d trade any of you…
Jesse you are a good eater and sleeper! You seem to only need one nap a day – though sometimes you still take two. You are a little teenager and like to sleep in in the morning. I will NEVER complain about that (now if we could just get your brother to join you.) Over Christmas break you’ve been sleeping as late as 9 and 9:30 some days!!! You go to bed at 7 pm.
You are a stinker about stairs. We are trying to get you to go up and down by yourself, but you have learned it’s faster if someone just carries you so you’re resistant to going down alone. Hoping you get the hang of them SOON!
Jesse you have never really loved books (which horrifies this teacher mama), but you are slowly starting to come around. You bring them to us now and will finally tolerate us reading to you before bed.
You have the cutest smile and I swear, you make friends EVERYWHERE we go. You flash your grin and work your magic and all of sudden complete strangers are talking to you and smiling back. I am so happy that you are such a sweet and cheerful child (most of the time). You and Asher officially love to play together. Sometimes Asher isn’t too crazy about you messing up his toys, but he loves to have you race cars with him, run around with him, and just be goofy together. The feeling is mutual because I hear “Asher” all day long out of your little mouth. You loooooooooove your brother so much. And that makes this mommy’s heart so happy!
You are our sweet boy and we love you to pieces and pieces. Happy 18 months Jesse!
