The week leading up to my birthday Chris had planned to give me small gifts each morning… and then the sickness of 2013 hit!! He still gave me the gifts but some days he just set them outside the door if he was too sick to come out of our room. It felt kind of funny to be “celebrating” when we were under such a dark cloud.
THANKFULLY the sickness finally passed and everyone was feeling well by Saturday. Chris’s school had their carnival and though we had all planned to go, we’ve decided to avoid areas of high germs and possible sick people (aka elementary schools, church nursery, etc) for the next few weeks.
Chris and the boys got me breakfast before he had to leave. The boys and I hung out and ran some errands together. Both boys napped!! {Hallelujah chorus!} And then that night we went out to dinner with our small group at Maggiano’s. Grandma and Grandpa Atkinson came and watched the boys and after a looooooooooong week it was SO great to get out of the house and be with friends. It was the BEST gift anyone could have given me. :)
We ate family style and it was sooooo good! We started out by sitting as couples, but after salads and appetizers we moved to a guys side and a girls side… so much easier to converse that way!! :)
Sunday morning we stayed home from church (see above about church nursery) ;) but we went out for a yummy breakfast with G-ma and G-pa before they went home. And then Sunday night we had a birthday dinner and cake.
It was a low-key weekend spent with family, friends, and cold temps. (A far cry from last birthday’s 80 degree temps!!!) Thankful for a weekend of feeling extra-loved and celebrated. :)
