Not really sure where the last few days (weeks?) have gone, but we’re here and we’re doing well! Life seems to be getting busier by the day. This past weekend my parents came for a visit just in time to witness (along with us) Jesse become increasingly more mobile!! He is a rolling machine and could get just about anything he wanted by rolling to it, and/or turning in a complete circle but now he’s added lunging forward to his repertoire! Before Asher formally started to crawl he was in that frustrating stage of scootching backwards so he usually ended up further away from what he wanted than when he originally started. NOT Jesse! He has figured out how to propel himself forward so we’ll see how close we are to actual crawling or army crawling? I’m working on getting a good video of him and I’ll post one soon!

While my parents were here Chris and I took the chance to head downtown Indy to experience all of the Super Bowl festivities. Living north of Indianapolis alllllllllllll we’ve heard about for months has been the Super Bowl but now that it’s finally arrived our city is literally electric with excitement! Checking out the Super Bowl village was so much fun! Despite our unseasonably warm days we went down on a COLD day so we were thankful we got to leave the boys with my parents. :)
All the streets downtown have been re-named with NFL team names. This corner was the heart of the action and obviously re-named Colts Way!
The new Marriott is so big it has changed the skyline of Indy – it’s hard to even describe how HUGE the Lombardi trophy was on the side of it!
This was as close to the roman numerals as we got… They were huge!
Chris in front of the massive ESPN set-up. There was a whole city block of TV trucks and satellites.
The infamous turf and zipline in front of the NFL experience, where they taped the Today show this morning.
Such a fun time! It was cold, but great!

In addition to a baby on the move Asher is also keeping us on our toes these days. Seems like he is older and funnier every day. I registered him for Pre-School for next year and drove away from registration wondering where the last two and a half years of my life have gone! I was reminded how thankful I am to have been a part of each moment of his little life and to savor each moment because it goes SO darn fast.
A new favorite of his is listening to his Veggie Tales CD in the car. He knows which songs he likes and which ones he wants us to skip. I often hear , “mommy, can you turn it up?” coming from the backseat.
He was loooooooooooong overdue for a haircut so I finally cut it this week (pretty short) and he looks SO much like Chris now!
Last night we went for Ice Cream after dinner (something about temps in the 50s in February feels ice-cream-worthy) and on our way home we noticed an ENORMOUS dragon or dinosaur type creature hovering over the trees. We drove toward it and discovered it was a hot air balloon that had landed at the local park. It was fun to see all the other families who stopped by to check it out and it really did give us a taste of spring/summer and all the fun of being outside at a park after dinner with family. As much as I’m hoping for one BIG (close-the-schools) snowfall I am loving this spring-like winter weather.
Chris and Asher riding his trike in the cul-de-sac on February 2nd! Crazy!
A few new funny Asher-isms from this week:
“Mommy, I have hupcakes!” (hiccups) and “Daddy and I were throwing the Tennessee ball!” (tennis)

As much fun as our sweet boys are (and they REALLY are), I’ve had my share of hard mommy-days lately. Just when I feel like I’m getting the hang of two kids life gets more interesting or busy. I need to do a better job of finding my strength for each day (or moment) in Christ. It is true that His mercies are new every morning. And as hard as a two-year-old temper tantrum in the Kroger parking lot while lugging a twenty-pound baby in a carseat might seem right now I know I will look back some day and wish I could jump back in time when my boys were little. And thankfully the sweet moments like this one typically outweigh the tough ones. :)
