17 months!

Jesse you are 17 months old! 

You are officially into EVERYTHING all. the. time.  I know you’ve been mobile for a long time… but you are constantly opening drawers, lifting the lid of the garbage can, pulling ornaments off the tree, standing on chairs, coloring with crayons (not on paper), dumping out buckets of toys (and not to play with them, just for the sheer fun of making a mess).  You are busy, busy, busy and keep me on my toes all your waking moments.  Your cute scrunched-up-nose smile is your saving grace on most some days!! 

You seem to be growing up more and more every day and I feel like we communicate so much more now.  I can tell you things like, “Your sippy cup is on the train table” and off you go to retrieve it.  Or today, we pulled up to daddy’s school and you started saying, “Daddy!  Daddy!  Daddy!”  (Poor buddy, we were only dropping something off and we didn’t even get to see Chris as he was in a meeting.)  You just seem to ‘get’ things more these days and though you’re not rambling off full-sentences we are ‘conversing’ in our own way.

The big addition that seems ‘note-worthy’ for this month was the addition of the word: “NO!” and you say it as you point your finger at us, your brother, the dog… you name it.  We knew it was only a matter of time until 'that’ word arrived in your vocabulary (with such gusto) and the day has come.

We love you, Jess!  For all the havoc you bring to our Christmas tree, I sure love watching you run up the lights and colorful ornaments and imagine what you are thinking.  I can’t wait to celebrate Christmas with you and see your excitement over this special time of year.  Happy 17 months, baby {You’re still my baby, right??}
