We really miss daddy while he’s at work each day. We’re proud of him for working so hard and being a great teacher, but we can’t wait to see him at the end of the day!!! Chris gets some of the best smiles out of Asher when he gets home.

What do you think Papa?
…am I ready for the Masters?
I promise not to cry or make too much noise!!
Papa Jasper brought home Masters shirts for all of us a few years ago. We even all wore them for our Christmas picture that year. The only grandkids were Linnea and Karin and they had Masters dresses and were so cute! So when Chris and I found this Masters onesie at our kids consignment shop we couldn’t pass it up. We knew Papa Jasper would love it!
Asher, maybe someday you’ll get to be a spectator on “Amen corner” as someone putts in to win the green jacket!!

TGIF!
Each day with Asher is busy and so much fun! I don’t always remember to get out the camera and lately I’ve been feeling like I/we haven’t taken very many pictures. So today I took lots!
How cute is this t-shirt? It was a hand-me-down for a gal Chris teaches with. It’s the Beatles “yellow submarine”… nothing I would buy necessarily, but stinking cute! :)
I promise this child smiles… A LOT, just not when cameras come out. :)
Chewing on his play mat animals. We’ve started hanging a pacifier from the links, but he prefers to chew and suck on the animals instead. :)
And when he’s not chewing on anything else, he’s chewing on his hands.
As you can see, Daisy and Asher seem to co-exist quite nicely. Daisy laid right by his feet today despite lots of kicks, she seems to really like him and be protective of him. (She’ll love him even more when he starts dropping goodies from his high chair!)
And how am I finding time to blog right now??
That’s how! :) I won’t take a picture of my laundry room however, that could always use some attention while he sleeps. (Maybe tomorrow!)
Happy Friday!!!!
Indiana State Fair…
Last Saturday we enjoyed the Indiana State Fair!! It’s no Minnesota State Fair… but it’s still fun! :) The food is always worth it. It was HOT… but Asher was a trooper. Auntie Erica suggested bringing cold washcloths and he LOVED getting wiped down with them. We went early and tried to stay in the buildings during the extreme heat and we left before it got too hot. We had a great day, and we can’t wait to go back when Asher is old enough to actually enjoy it with us!!
PS I would love to say that the bag of kettle corn only LOOKS enormous and we would have never bought a large for just two people… but I’d be lying. And it was delicious!

Three months old!!
Here is the official three month picture:
Not really sure where the past three months have gone! My little scrunched up, snuggly newborn has been replaced with an active and smiley little boy! I absolutely ADORE the age three-months old! Asher is full of gurgles, coos, squeals, giggles, and smiles. Asher likes to look around and take in his surroundings. He will still snuggle when he’s sleepy, but when he’s awake he wants to be looking at everything!
Since about 11 weeks Asher has been sleeping through the night. He goes to bed between 8 and 11 (quite a window!) and then sleeps until 5-7 am (again, quite a window). Hopefully we’ll get a little bit more consistent with bedtime soon, in the meantime I can’t complain since he sleeps all night long! No real routine for naps yet, but he sleeps in his carseat while we run errands or in his swing when we’re at home.
Asher’s favorite thing (besides his mom and dad of course) is his playmat! He would literally play on it for hours if we left him there. Before he would just bat at the little animals and toys, but now he holds them, pulls on them, “talks” to them, and sucks on them. The playmat is a never-ending source of entertainment for him.
Books are becoming increasingly interesting to our sweet little boy! He likes to look at the pictures. He has a few books with mirrors on the pages that he really loves.
Something else Asher loves… sucking on his fingers! Sometimes he finds his thumb, but he will jam any finger he can find into his little mouth. As a result, his hands and mouth are often a slobbery mess. Asher is quite the drooler these days… (tell me it’s too soon for teething!!!) :) He drools and spits up quite frequently, we’re all getting used to many wardrobe changes a day!
Asher is wearing size 2 diapers and at the end of his 0-3 clothes and wearing lots of his 3-6 month clothes. He doesn’t need the bigger clothes for his width, but definitely his length!! He is one tall boy!!!
Asher, every day with you goes by SO quickly, maybe that is why you are growing up faster than I can believe. As much as I used to get sad at the thought of my baby getting bigger, your daddy and I LOVE each new little phase and getting to see MORE and MORE of your adorable personality. You are such a blessing to us and you make us SO happy little Asher-man. We LOVE you. :)

Don’t quit your day job!
Okay, let me begin this post by saying that Chris is a fantastic dad! He loves Asher so much and is always willing to help take care of him. That being said, he has been pretty distracted and a little overwhelmed this past week with the beginning of the school year (which started today!!!!). He was changing Asher’s diaper the other day and for some reason I went in the room mid-changing and this is what I found:
Normally Chris does an awesome job at changing at diapers so I have NO idea what happened here!! I laughed so hard.
I just had to take an “After” picture to rub it in… and you can bet it was the BEST diaper I’ve ever done (since I knew I’d be taking a picture…)
In fairness to my sweet husband, Asher is at a stage where he likes to be kicking and moving his legs constantly!! He usually pulls them up in a little frog-position and it’s hard to hold him down long enough to slap a diaper on.
In all seriousness as I was thinking about this post and laughing at the thought of Chris “not quitting his day job” and it made me think that today SHOULD be my first day of school with students, but instead I’m happily at home with my son. This was a big leap of faith for us, but we are faithfully trusting in the Lord to provide for us this year.
I am absolutely thrilled to be home with Asher. I always knew I wanted to stay at home with my kids, but I honestly wasn’t sure if we’d be able to make it work. My heart is SO full of joy. I’ve heard people say that being a mom is the hardest job you’ll ever have and I believe it! But it’s also the best! Here are some shots of my new favorite “student”!
A big thank you to Chris for working so hard for us this year, and for your desire (and support) for me to be at home with Asher! :) We love you and miss you already today!! Hurry home after school!

Random Cuteness
The other day I snuck in on Asher to see if he was still napping soundly and I couldn’t believe how cute he looked with his little hands folded up by his chin.
Asher taking an extra-bubbly bubble bath! :)
Asher hasn’t quite discovered his toes yet, but he must be close with how often he brings his legs up. (His new thing is to lift his legs up in his crib and slam them down on the mattress.) I think he looks like a little frog in this picture!
Asher does a great job of sitting in his bumbo…
It’s a two-man effort to photograph smiles these days. Of course Asher gives them out freely all day long, but whip out a camera and he gets shy. Chris and I had to tag-team to get these grins (the drool was complimentary though!)
There were days that I wondered if the Lord was ever going to bless us with a child. Waiting for anything is hard, and waiting for a baby can be truly painful. I am thankful every day for my healthy, sweet, happy, precious, snuggly, smiley, adorable little boy; and I am thankful for a Heavenly Father who entrusted us with him.
