Misc. Monday

I snapped a few shots of Chris and Asher playing after church.  Asher woke up super early Sunday which made it easy to make it to the first service at church… but we were ALL ready for naps by that afternoon!

Last night’s dinner included watermelon and brats with ketchup so it was already going to be a bath night, why not add a popsicle!?!  We are loving this summer-like weather!!

Here is Asher’s room post painting and new carpet.  I haven’t hung anything back up on the walls yet, and the crib doesn’t even have the skirt on it so you can see it’s still a blank slate, but I love how fresh and clean it feels!

We moved the train table in there temporarily (??) but Asher loves it being in there so who knows, maybe it will stay?!

I found this t-shirt for Asher on sale for $3 on Saturday!  It says, “My Dad is Rad!!!”  I thought it was too cute to pass up!

Posing with Thomas and James…

LOVE that cheesy grin!  Such a ham.  :)

I’m relishing each day alone with my buddy before all the changes that will happen this summer!  This is the last week of school around here, and though Chris will still have some office work/hours to complete, he’ll be home with us soon and we’re excited to have him all to ourselves for a few weeks this summer!!

Happy Monday!

buh-bye stripes!

Remember these shots from about two years ago?!

20090328-IMG_085420090328-IMG_0858

The pain-staking stripes that I measured, taped, and mostly painted (with the help of my husband).

IMG_5692

Yep.  They’re gone!

We got new carpet for both bedrooms so we took it as a chance to freshen up the boys’ room and paint it back to just khaki. It feels SO good in there now… fresh paint! fresh carpet! I love it!

Thanks to Valspar paint with primer it only took ONE COAT!!  Thank you  to my husband who kicked me out of the painting job (even though it was low-VOC paint) just to play it safe.  And a BIG thank you to Grandpa Atkinson for driving to Indy to help us unload heavy furniture and then re-load it a few hours later.

The room still needs lots of finishing touches to make it ready for two little people instead of just this one…

But when it’s all done I’ll post some pics!  In the meantime, buh-bye stripes!  You were fun while you lasted!!

Tour & first birthday present!

Like I said in my last post, we removed the bed and rearranged the furniture in Asher’s room to give him more playing space.  We’re looking to add a pull-out couch to our family room for guests, but for right now there is no room in the Atkinson Inn.  :)

I still need to take down and re-hang all of the artwork on the walls and the initials that were hanging over Asher’s crib, so please ignore those as you take a tour of Asher’s new digs…

“Hello!  Welcome!  Playing with the door is my favorite thing to do these days!”

Wide Open (crawling) Spaces!

Giving a “high five” but a little guarded with the smiles.

IMG_5695

We left everything tucked in this corner to try to leave the rest of the room wide open.

Now that we have almost the whole wall next to Asher’s crib available we’re looking to add a few pieces like maybe one of these??

American Plastic Toys 38 Piece Deluxe Workbench

KidKraft Deluxe Lets Cook Play Kitchen

To be honest I don’t know if you buy little boys a play kitchen?!  I’m not trying to sound sexist… I’m just not sure.  He LOVED the one that his cousins had, but we might go a little more manly with the work bench.  :)

I also think one of these might be pretty cute?!

Hybrid My First Anywhere Chair

One of these might make a good first birthday presents, but we’ll see…  Speaking of presents, Asher got his first birthday present in the mail today!  A whole month early!

IMG_5725

When Asher was born my parents and Chris and I decided to bank Asher’s cord blood.  So CBR (the cord blood registry) sent Asher a book for his birthday… appropriately named:

Any book is a hit with Asher, but this book has the flaps you can lift so he was especially loving it!

IMG_5728

Chris likes to tease me that I drag out birthdays into “Birthday Weekends” or “Birthday Weeks”… but now that Asher has received his first birthday gift we might need to start calling it the Birthday MONTH especially since tomorrow he is officially one month away!  :)  Yippee!  Check back tomorrow for his 11 month post!
