Hungry!

I was rushing around the kitchen today trying to get Asher’s lunch ready so I could get him down for his afternoon nap. I guess I wasn’t moving fast enough for this hungry boy because when I stopped to look at him I found him like this:

Yes! That’s his SOCK. :) I laughed out loud when I saw him like this.

I think he enjoyed his pears and oatmeal more!

thankful.

Asher had an awesome first Thanksgiving in Cincinnati! We celebrated with Grandma and Grandpa Atkinson, Auntie Liz and Uncle Joel, and even got to see Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Cameron. The food was fantastic and we had lots of fun playing games and just hanging out as a family. Asher even braved his first ‘black friday’ shopping trip!!

Asher was fighting a fever on and off this weekend… the doctor seems to think it’s viral, but we’re all hoping it’s just a tooth trying to pop through. He was a trouper despite not feeling the best.

I have so much to thankful for! I’m especially thankful for my husband and how much he loves me and Asher and the ways he provides for us. I’m so thankful to be home every day with Asher as I know this is something lots of moms wish they could do and not everyone is blessed with this opportunity. I’m thankful for our families and the love support we receive from them. (Now that I’m home all day my poor mom and sisters are on speed dial for hundreds of rookie mom and/or cooking questions… and they are a never-ending source of help and encouragement.) I am thankful for my friends near and (too many) far. And it probably goes without saying that I’m extremely thankful for my little boy. We prayed and prayed for a child and the Lord blessed us with such a sweet little boy! The Lord is so faithful. This past year brought some painful experiences for our family. And in the darkest hours the Lord proved to be faithful, present, and active in every situation! I am so thankful to walk through life with the Lord by my side, and know that nothing I face didn’t first pass through His hands. Blessed be the name of the Lord!

6 month check-up

I had to snap a few pictures of Asher when he woke up from his nap this afternoon. He has been sleeping on his tummy so when I went in for him he was lifting his head up and he could just barely see over the top of his bumper. I could tell by his squinty eyes that he was smiling once he got a glimpse of me. He is such a sweet boy!

IMG_3802

I love how the sunlight was hitting him once I opened the curtains.

IMG_3818

Enough pictures, mom! Come get me! :)

IMG_3820

This afternoon we took Asher to his 6 month check-up. He is in approx. the 50th percentile for both height and weight. (We were both surprised.) I guess I thought he was bigger than that… thankfully we still have more time before he outgrows the swing and his carseat. :)

Height: 26.5 inches & Weight: 17 lbs 12 oz.

Poor boy had lots of shots today. :( Here is a picture of him with his “battle scars” (band-aids).

After shots he is so snuggly and sleepy. :)

Here’s to a cozy Friday night at home with my favorite guys! :)

California!

We had a wonderful, fun-filled, whirlwind weekend in California! To say that Asher was a trouper is an understatement. He was awesome! He took the three-hour time change like a champ. He put up with long plane rides, sleeping in a hotel, no “routine”, being passed from person to person, and really late nights all with a constant smile on his face!

Thursday we arrived at LAX in time to ride the elevator with Patricia Heaton!! (Deborah from Everybody Loves Raymond.)

That proved to be our only “star” sighting, but it was fun. She was super friendly and chatted with us about the “joys” of traveling with children. She smiled at Asher and of course got a big grin back. We tried to play it cool (ha) and didn’t ask for a picture. But we were excited! We took the rest of the day to get settled at our hotel and try our first In-n-Out Burger. Yum! Chris went out with the boys to ESPN zone Thursday night.

In a moment of desperation when Chris and I both needed to be getting ready we let Asher watch about 10 minutes of cartoons. Check out his enthusiasm for TV!

IMG_3714

Friday was our tourist day. We loaded Asher up in the car and drove all over Beverly Hills and Hollywood. It was a beautiful day and we had so much fun seeing all the places we’ve only heard about or seen on TV. That night was the rehearsal dinner.

Saturday we visited Master’s College. The boys played football and I’m pretty sure they’re all still limping today because of it. Asher and I went along to watch and enjoy the California mountain scenery. We spent the rest of the day enjoying our TU friends including lunch with the whole gang and then wedding festivities.

I LOVE this picture! Rebekah is Hawaiian and she did a traditional hula dance for Luke -- his face throughout the dance was priceless!

Asher hung in there despite the late hour and the chilly temps.

There were three weddings at the hotel that night and some elderly men at another wedding loved Asher’s hat, they told me he looked just like Payne Stewart.

What a great guy to be compared to! We took that as a compliment. :)

Sunday we flew home and were lucky enough to have Matt and Polly Graham on our flight. The four of us all traveled to Bolivia together in college so it was fun to be travelers together again… 7 years and 3 kids later! After a WONDERFUL weekend it was good to be home!

We were so thankful for the chance to visit California and celebrate with Luke and Rebekah Cherry. We just met Rebekah this weekend, but quickly realized how beautiful she is on the inside and out. She will make a wonderful companion for Luke. Their wedding was a gorgeous event that centered on the Lord and we were blessed to be a part of it!
