Just for fun, here is a short video of Asher eating lunch today. I love when he starts to “talk” to me toward the end… :)

big boy carseat!
After much deliberation we finally ordered Asher’s convertible carseat. I had no idea how much time and energy I would put into looking for his carseat, but when I thought about the worst case scenario I wanted to make sure Asher would be as safe as possible!
He seems to like his new car seat! And I don’t blame him, he was starting to get pretty squished in his infant car seat!! :)
We’ll get it installed in the van this weekend. I’m sure it will make running errands a whole new ballgame as we won’t be lugging the infant carseat around anymore! :)

Finger Food!
Asher is so into finger food these days… and I mean REAL finger food. I think he knows that puffs are for “babies” because he’s so over them. :) He loves cheerios, and tiny pieces of: cheese, turkey, pears, banana, cantaloupe, and toast.
*Too busy to look at me…
*I have to sing “she’ll be coming round the mountain” to get him to look up and smile these days…
*Caught him mid-yawn!
*Love that piece of cheese on his face!

Sew much fun.
After Asher went to bed last night I started working on a small sewing project. He no longer has Colts clothes that fit and instead of buying something for two more games (that’s right, we’re SO going to the Super Bowl again – we just need to actually beat the Jets this time). :) I re-purposed one of his onesies that no longer fits…
I cut out a tie shape and sewed it on a plain white long-sleeved onesie. I’ve seen these all over and thought it looked easy enough! And it was… for the most part. :) It’s definitely not perfect, but it’s a start. I’m just happy I could re-insert the bobbin and thread the needle! :)
Since the game is on Sunday I figured Asher could wear his new tie to church, but we might dress it up with his cute little blazer/suit coat! :)
Now I’m not going to lie… I’m 100% rooting for the Colts to win this weekend… but I’m also rooting for Brett Favre and his Vikes to beat the Saints! If the Vikings meet the Colts in the Super Bowl I will be forced to follow my heart and root for Favre, but Chris has already told me that Asher will be rooting for the Colts along with him. :) And it’s a good thing since he has his new onesie! I also have a plan for how to re-purpose the other Colts onesie he’s outgrown, we’ll see if I get to that one before the Super Bowl!
GO COLTS!!!

If you don’t know who Sergey Brin is, you should “Google” him.
When we were in Michigan over Christmas we played celebrity; a game where each person gets 6-10 slips of paper and you write the name of a “celebrity” on each piece of paper. A celebrity is someone that at least three people in the room know… so it could be George Bush or a random family friend. We’ve been playing celebrity for so many years that some names show up almost every time (now we just keep putting them in for traditions-sake). Case in point:

After everyone writes their names they all go in a bowl and you split into two teams. Each person then has one minute to give clues to have their team guess as many people from the bowl as possible. (That’s round 1). Round 2 is the same idea, but you can only say ONE word to get your team to guess the name. Round 2 is much tougher and you better hope you can come up with a good word! :)
Lately we’ve been creating “themes” for our names. Like my dad has done all US senators, my sister did all olympic ice skaters etc.

Well, if you know my husband AT ALL it won’t surprise you that he decided to do a “technology” theme. I know, he’s crazy like that. Some of his names were a little questionable as far as the rule that at least three people need to know who-the-heck-they-are. Two of the names he did were Sergey Brin and Larry Page (founders of Google). Needless to say these aren’t household names everywhere (to Chris’s shock and horror).

Fast forward to his birthday earlier this month. He received this awesome birthday present from my sisters and their husbands:
*Notice they even had it made in Buckeyes colors!
Chris LOVES this shirt and can’t wait to wear it around town. He was also sure that they had ordered this shirt ready-made like this. I had to convince him that they had to actually create this shirt. (I love that he thinks there would be a huge market for shirts that say, “Larry Page and Sergey Brin are my heroes.”)
THANK YOU Britt, Adam, Erica, Drew, and kiddos. Chris LOVES his new shirt. :)

Everything old is new again.
Asher hasn’t used his playmat in months. In fact it’s been folded up and put in a corner for quite a while now.
But now that Asher is SUPER mobile and into everything, he crawled over to the playmat and started tugging on it like it was a brand new toy.
I got it out for him and he had so much fun crawling around on it, looking at the animals, and staring at himself in the mirror.
Check out the comparison of the next two pictures! Hard to believe it’s the same baby!

Happy trails to you…
We enjoyed a quick visit with Nana and Papa Jasper last night and this morning. They stopped to see us on their way to Texas. We will miss seeing them as frequently as they’ll be staying in Austin for the next three months! I’m happy that they’ll get to spend so much time with my sister, her husband, and their boys – but we’ll be anxious to see them when they come back in the spring!! :)
Asher was extra sleepy this morning and a little sparing with his smiles. I’m glad we got one good one!
My parents also came last week so mom could help me get the hang of my new sewing machine! :) To jumpstart my new hobby I received a sewing machine from my parents, a new sewing book from my sister-in-law and brother-in-law, and a gift card to JoAnn fabrics from my in-laws as Christmas gifts! I’m so excited to get going and have started practicing and trying a few projects. :) If anything is picture-worthy I’ll share my creations!
Safe travels, Nana and Papa! Thanks for stopping by and have a great time down south! :) We love you!
PS Don’t forget to enjoy some Rudy’s for us!

8 months old!
Well here we are again… our baby is one month closer to a year old!
- Diapers: size 3
- Clothes: 6-12 mos onesies/shirts, size 9-12 mos pants
- Weight: 20 lbs (according t0 the “unofficial” baby scale at church)
As the months seem to fall of the calendar I am having more and more fun with our little guy. Not to say that it hasn’t always been fun to be his mom… it’s just that the older he gets and the more his personality emerges interaction is that much more exciting and fun.Asher is a moving machine! He is officially… CRAWLING! :) At first he could only figure out how to move his knees so he was constantly face planting! Now that he has figured out how to move is hands and knees there is NO stopping him! Let the baby proofing begin. :)
Asher “talks” to us so much more now! He is officially saying Dada (that started the week of Christmas). Otherwise there are lots of ba-ba’s and goo-goo ga-ga’s. All of them are music to our ears!
New Year’s day Asher finally cut his first tooth (and all God’s people said AMEN!) Even our cheerful, happy little guy had a few hard days as we waited for that tooth! He’s always been a drooler, but teething kicked it up big-time! As of right now he has three teeth poking through (and maybe more!) He’s awfully protective and won’t let me get in there to see them very much though. :)
Asher is still an awesome eater! He eats two “meals” a day and is still nursing 4-5 times a day. We tried some itty bitty pieces of cantaloupe but he I think they were too slippery for him to chew. He double-fists his puffs and seems to especially love the peach flavor (and so do I!) ha! I’m not sure how he feels about the sippy cup with water, I think he mostly just likes chewing on it.
Asher has started to show more preference for me and Chris – and sometimes he won’t go as easily to other people. Although… Asher went to the nursery for the first time this month while I was at MOPS and he did a great job! When I picked him up the workers said, “He’s the happiest baby!” :) (We think so!)
Christmas came at the PERFECT time for Asher. He is at a fun age of wanting to play and engage and now he has a million fun new toys to keep him busy! Asher also got several new books (hooray!) for Christmas. He loves to be read to and listens intently to every story.
Most of the new toys play music so something new we’ve noticed is that Asher likes to “dance” to the music. It’s SO cute to see him stop playing to rock back and forth and shake his booty!
Asher seems to have really gotten the hang of going down to sleep in his crib for naps and at bedtime. He no longer cries or fusses when I lay him down… sometimes he “talks” for quite a while however!
Asher, every day with you is a gift. I am thankful for every moment I get to spend with you! You are always so happy and sweet. You like to laugh and you love to snuggle (especially when we’re reading books before nap or bedtime). Daddy can’t wait to get home from work each day and play with you. Often he’s home to get you up from your nap and I always hear him tell you how much he missed you during the day! We keep hoping he’ll have a snow day and get to stay home with us right?! :)
Check out that bed head! :) We love, love, love, love our little (big) 8-month old boy and can’t wait for what this next month will bring!
I just had to share these pictures too! Asher kept looking down for his 8 month picture. I have a zillion just like this:
But now you can see why:
Daisy is NEVER far away from her buddy during the day. :)
