Sunday we officially tried rice cereal with Asher. He wasn’t too sure what to think of it. It didn’t appear that he liked it or disliked it. Most of it ended up on his bib, clothes, high chair, etc. Very little of it was actually swallowed by him. :)
I wasn’t sure if we should hold off a little bit longer or not. I don’t want to mess with baby food on our trip to California, but I also didn’t want to wait until we returned home to start (as he’ll be about six months by then). Also, I think I’ve been in denial that my baby was old enough to try cereal! As much as I’m doing better with all the changes that Asher is going through I was still a little bit sad to think that he was that old.
Asher has started to show more interest in food, watching us while we eat. We also wanted to see if it will help him sleep all night. :) MOST nights he sleeps all the way until 5 am, (Yes!) and then falls back asleep until 7:30 or 8:00 am. Some nights however, he seems restless and just can’t seem to stay asleep. I know lots of books and websites technically say that starting cereal won’t ensure your child sleep through the night (but it’s still worth a try!) :)
So we’ll give rice cereal some time and if he gets the hang of it we’ll start some veggies! Maybe he’ll like sweet potatoes more than his mom (hopefully!)
Here are some (lots) of pictures of the big event!
He has no idea what’s about to happen!
Here goes nothing!
Notice the enormous bib! It’s bigger than he is. :)
“What is this?!”
“Hmmmmm”
“Not so sure about this…”
(Of course he’d rather eat the bib than the cereal.)
Daddy takes a turn…
Daddy gets the best smiles!
So proud of our little (big) boy…
All smiles when we were through!
Asher boy, before we know it that bib will look small on you! Have we told you how much we love you?! :)
