Our sweet boy is half-way to one year old… so we celebrated with half of a cake! :)
Dear Asher,
You have brought your dad and me more joy than we can begin to describe! Being your mom has brought me more fulfillment than my best day of teaching. I’m sure we haven’t always done everything “right” these first six months, but thanks for being so patient with us as we figure this parenting thing out!
You are quite possibly the happiest, SMILIEST, sweetest, most loveable baby ever! We’re so glad we named you “happy” because you have sure lived up to your name! You light up when your daddy walks in the room and we melt when you flash us a big smile. You woke up crying in the middle of the night last week and when I was cuddling and rocking you back to sleep you just kept holding my cheek and rubbing my face with your little hand. So precious!
We won’t have your six month stats for a few more weeks when we go to the doctor, but you seem to have slowed down a little bit on your growing and you’re actually getting to wear clothes for a bit longer before you out-grow them! Hooray!
Here’s what you’re up to these days…
You love to sit up (with the help of your Boppy) and play, play, play! You’ve gotten really good at picking out whatever toy you want, bending over for it, and then sitting back up. You can’t quite sit up unassisted, but I’m sure that will happen soon! Nana Jasper came to play with you while I packed for our big trip and she helped you practice sitting up… you’re getting so close!
You like to lay on your back and play with toys or just stare at the fan. You scoot backwards by arching your back and pushing with your feet. You roll back to front and front to back these days, though you seem happiest on your back.
You still LOVE your exercauser and have become much more deliberate in your movements in there; swinging around and playing with all the toys. The jury is out on how you feel about your doorway-jumper. I think you’re going to really like it the more you use it.
You are more interested in Daisy than EVER! She is always close by when I’m playing with you, changing your diaper, reading you books etc. I think she is very protective of you and she LOVES any chance to lick your hands or feet and I know she is waiting patiently for you to start dropping food from your highchair.
So far you’ve eaten Rice Cereal (which you were so-so about) and Oatmeal Cereal (which you appear to love)! You’ve also had sweet potatoes (also a big hit)! Such a big boy. We’ll be starting more fruits and veggies soon!
You like to “talk” and we love to listen to you. Sometimes you talk for 30 minutes before falling asleep at night.
Everywhere we go… Kroger, Target, Church, MOPS, Small group… people want to see you and they love the big smiles they get.
You are an awesome sleeper. You’re sleeping about 12 hours a night (hooray!) and you take two naps a day.
Pretty soon we’re going to take you on your FIRST plane ride, followed by your FIRST Thanksgiving, followed by your FIRST Christmas. We can honestly say that vacations and holidays have always been great, but you make them so much more wonderful. We love experiencing all your little “firsts” with you.
Asher, your mom and dad love you SO much. I read this quote the other day, “Before I had my child, I thought I understood the limits of my heart. It’s extraordinary to have all those limits thrown out.” I couldn’t agree more!
Happy 6 months, Asher-boy. We can’t wait to see what the next 6 months bring!
We Love YOU, Mommy and Daddy
Look at the comparison of Asher from 6 weeks to 6 months…
Linds, I LOVE the 1/2 birthday cake! I think I'm gonna steal that and start a tradition for my family!! :) Asher is getting so big! Coming this direction for either of the holidays??
