Thank you, Amber for tagging me in the “Ten Honest Things” blog post. So here are ten (random) honest things about me (which feels strange because despite our blog name most posts are about the little man…). I tried to add some pictures to spice up the post!
1. I have a borderline addiction to Facebook because I can keep up with people in a very low-commitment way. I like reading their status updates and looking at pictures, but I rarely comment or post my own status updates.
2. Much like FB, I like to lurk on other people’s blogs. I have a whole list of people I don’t know (and will probably never meet), but I feel intimately acquainted with them from their blogs! My favorite (of people I don’t know) is this one.
3. I have always wanted daughters. Chris and I were both sure that Asher was a girl so when we found out we were having a boy I/we were shocked. NOW… all I want are sons. I love being a mom to a boy. I look at teenage girls and thank the Lord that I have a boy.
4. My name was supposed to be Anne, but my sisters talked my mom and dad into naming me Lindsay (at the hospital I believe). So my name is Lindsay Ann… somewhere between going from Anne to Lindsay Ann I lost the “e” on the end. My mom still calls me Annie, which totally confused Chris the first time she called me that in front of him.
5. I loved high school and would do it all over again (maybe). I had great non-church friends, but I had AMAZING youth group friends. The combination of the two meant I was pretty much having fun at all times. Now… middle school – NEVER again. :)
6. I did half of my student teaching in Bolivia. I had 10 first graders! It was wonderful and the fact that it didn’t require much grading or prep work at night allowed me the chance to soak up the culture. One weekend I flew to stay with missionaries (who I had only met once) in the Andes Mountains. I am still amazed I was brave enough to do that, but I will always be thankful I did. It was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.
7. I am a little bit obsessive about things matching – For example, I envy women who can buy a red purse, but I never could. What would you do every time your outfit didn’t “go” with red?! When Asher first starting wearing bibs I was pretty insane about making sure they matched whatever outfit he was wearing… which proved problematic considering how much he would spit up and need a new one. :) *I do think I could get over my fear of non-matching red purses if I owned this one (for a mere $900!!)
8. At each stage of life the Lord has blessed me with at least one amazing girlfriend who was going through similar things and was such a source of encouragement to me… until now. I still have those women in my life but they are scattered all over the country. I keep wondering if my new “friend” is going to appear one of these days or if the Lord is trying to teach me to rely more on Him??
9. I thoroughly enjoy watching QVC or the Home Shopping Network. I’ve never ordered anything, but MAN, I’ve been close! It’s amazing how long I can watch a demo on a mop. I especially love when the Quacker Lady is on… she’s amazing!
10. I love the movie “You’ve Got Mail” – I probably watched it 100 times in college. My favorite line is, “I have a dollar. I have a dollar.” or “That caviar is a garnish!” To this day my sister and I call each other if we are ever prompted to actually say, “I have a dollar” in real-life… can’t say it without thinking of Meg Ryan in the ‘cash-only’ check out line of the grocery store.
Well, there you have it. Ten honest (random) things about me! I’d love to see what some of you have to say for your 10 honest things… any takers? :)
o.k...kinda crazy because I'm reading this blog post as I'm watching "You've Got Mail"....it's on TV. :) I LOVE it too! Reading these reminded me of how much we have in common and how much I miss you!
