When Asher first started to crawl we were both a nervous wreck that he would fall and hit his head. Of course, he did (more than once) but thankfully he survived. :)
Now that Asher is pulling up and cruising on anything he can scale I’m thinking, “Why on earth was I so nervous about crawling, this is ten times scarier!” :)
I know it’s part of learning to walk, but I find myself constantly hovering behind him as he teeters back and forth on his unsteady toes grasping onto anything he can reach.
He is getting very good at moving from object to object as he cruises around our house. He’s even getting the hang of bending over (while still holding on) to pick up things.
In this particular picture he was so frustrated because he was actually standing on the book so he couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t “come” when he was trying to pick it up. Being the good mom that I am, I rushed over to help him pick it up continued to take pictures. :)
By accident he has stood all by himself without holding on to anything a few times. He just lets go of whatever was holding him up and then stands there, usually it’s because he’s become engrossed in whatever he’s holding (his paci or a small toy). Once he realizes he’s not holding on he usually sits down, but it’s progress!
Every now and then he kind of lunges toward me or Chris while he’s cruising. It’s like he wants to get to us, but he can’t figure out how to move his feet in our direction.
We’re so thankful for each new fun (and scary) stage!
