Here is the birthday boy!
Good thing that is our last monthly shot in the blue chair because he is so “over” posing in the chair for me. ;)
Dear Sweet Birthday Boy,
It’s hard to believe that one year ago today we were sitting in a hospital room waiting to meet you and today you are here and filling our life with SO MUCH JOY that we don’t remember life before you! You are the sweetest, happiest, silliest, and all-around-most lovable kid in the world. You have set a high bar for future siblings! Every where we go people smile and wave at you and ask us if you’re always such a happy boy. We’ve always thought you were silly and fun, but lately you’ve literally been out-doing yourself with goofiness. You like to see that you’re making daddy and me laugh and ham it up for the attention.
This past month you have been busy growing up before our very eyes! You like to eat anything we put in front of you! We try to feed you what we eat at dinner and recently you are a big fan of lasagna and spaghetti. You also love love love peas.
You are taking a few steps at a time, but no real walking yet. You are so steady and so ready to start walking that I think it will be no time until you are tearing around this house. You are a busy boy and into everything. You open cupboards, doors, drawers, and splash your hands and feet in Daisy’s water bowl if we don’t catch you fast enough. You have started playing independently with your toys. It’s fun to see you entertain yourself and hear you chatter away.
You seem to have an obsession with the laundry room and make a bee-line for it many times throughout the day. Today you went to the laundry room door and said, “Dada” so perhaps you associate that door with daddy coming home after school each day? :)
Recently this month we’ve started to see more of your strong-will, especially when you don’t get something you want. Oh boy, it’s starting… There are some things you KNOW are no-no’s and it’s like you are drawn to them.
You are still taking two naps a day (most days), but some days we skip the morning nap to run errands or if we have lots to do. You go to bed about 7 o’clock at night and are up in the morning between 7:15 and 9:00! Usually it’s about 7:30 or 8:00 which is fine with me! :)
People say that you look like a combination of me and Daddy. They say they see Daddy in you when you smile, and I agree. Your eyes have gone from unmistakably blue to a more of a dark blue-gray. Your hair is still as blond as can be and is getting long again. You definitely need another trim! I won’t have your doctor’s visit stats until next week, but you seem to be on your same growth pattern as before.
Giving you a bath used to be so easy! You’d just lay there or sit there. Not anymore! Bathing you is now like an olympic event. You want to stand most of the time and whoever
has to gets to bathe you usually ends up as wet as you! :)
Twelve months have come and gone in the blink of an eye. There are days I wish I could just freeze time, but with as much fun as each new stage has been I know I would be missing out on too much if we didn’t keep moving forward.
Asher, we hope you always know how much you mean to us. We love you more than we thought possible and will always be your biggest fans. Obviously we hope you have a healthy and happy life, but more than that we pray that you find your true happiness in the One who made you and loves you more than we do. We pray that you will receive eternal life when you entrust your heart to Jesus Christ just as soon as you’re able to understand what He did for you at Calvary!
Happy Birthday, sweet boy! We love you!
All our love, Mama and Daddy xo xo
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ASHER!!!!!!
