Happy 20 months old, Asher!
You are one busy boy! Too busy, in fact, to sit in one place for very long…
When you were a teeny baby I would have 20-30 shots to choose from for your monthly picture. Now I’m LUCKY to get 2-3! ha!
Sizes:
clothes – 18-24 month
shoes – 6
diapers – 4 (size 5 overnights)
Food:
Asher you are a pretty good eater these days. You don’t like food mixed together so things like casseroles are usually a no-go, but other than that you will try most things.
You are learning how to blow on your food if it’s too hot, I don’t think you actually do much to cool it down (yet), but it’s pretty cute!
You are getting quite good with forks and spoons. I’m sure you’d have it mastered if your mommy would just let you get a little messy and use them full-time. ;)
Cheese is among your most favorite thing in the world and lately you talk about CAKE a lot! It’s not like we eat it very often, but you get excited at the very mention of it! Good thing Daddy just had a birthday!
Personality:
I have always thought you were the cutest and sweetest little boy in the world, and guess what? Nothing has changed! You are just precious. You talk and talk and talk all day long. Anything you hear you mimic. You’ll repeat back to us what we say, or what you hear other places (like cartoons). You are really good at saying your full name, Asher Joseph Atkinson! You will also so AJ when we call you that.
You are funny about ‘yes’ and ‘no’ – sometimes you use them correctly, other times you switch them, and other times you just say, “yesno” as one word. You’re keeping us on our toes.
You also say, “Mommy-Daddy” like it’s one word throughout the day and sometimes throw in “Mommy-Daddy-Asher.” I’m so glad you know we all go together! Another family member you talk about A LOT is your “Daisy girl” – you sure love her.
Your new thing is to ask us if we want to “play” with you. Usually you want to ‘play’ cars and trust me I’d drop about anything in the world to play with you, especially when you ask so sweetly.
You are really getting the hang of manners and are very good about please and thank you!
You are great about bedtime and will say “night night” or “bye-bye” and then “love you” when I leave the room. Melts my heart every time!
The other day I was disciplining you for standing on the couch so I was eye level with you and talking sternly when you looked me in the eye and said, “night night” and flopped your head back on the couch pillow and began to fake snore. You are definitely a ham and pretty much have your mommy wrapped around your finger.
When I ask you to count you will say, “two, three, GO!” :) Still working on the number one!!
Shooting ‘hoops’ is one of your favorite activities these days.
Favorite Things:
*Cheese!!
*Doggy, you’ve had this particular stuffed animal for a while, but lately you’re a little obsessed.
*bunnies or “hop hops” as you call them.
*Your pacifier. If it’s possible you are more attached to it than ever… oh boy!
*Elmo and Barney still make you squeal with excitement. If you see them when we are out running errands (like at Target) you get VERY excited! :)
Sleep:
Nighttime sleep has been great! You are consistently waking up at 7 am. I miss the days that we would sleep until 8, but I knew they wouldn’t last forever! ;)
Napping is pretty good… sometimes you lay right down and fall asleep immediately. Other days you will walk around in your crib and talk FOREVER. If you have a no-nap day you are very crabby by bedtime so we try very hard to make sure you get your naps every day!! :) Lately you really want your puppy in the crib with you as well as 2-3 pacis. You are a silly one!
Asher, every new day with you is so much fun. You are doing new things every day that amaze us and make us laugh. We LOVE watching you learn new things and seeing your sweet little personality continue to emerge. Every night when I snuggle you before bed I am reminded of how blessed I am that I get to wake up the next morning and do it all over again!!
