Asher-isms

Two of Asher’s new favorite things are: “Sipup” and “Kepup.”  Almost every morning he’ll ask for sipup (syrup) and pancakes or waffles.  He also LOVES kepup (ketchup) which he first tasted at Chick Fil A a few weeks ago.  It’s a sure-fire way to get him to eat any kind of meat he’s less than thrilled about.  :)

Asher loves to have us chase him and he’ll come up and say, “Daddy come!”  or just simply “chase me!”  He also loves to have Daisy chase him, it’s harder to convince her to join in the game though… unless of course he’s holding crackers than she’s more than happy to oblige.

He loves to tickle us and recently the tickling has extended to Daisy, and some inanimate objects like his sippy cup or his Thomas.  I don’t think he gets quite the same reaction as his daddy’s belly laughs though! ;)

Quite possibly my newest and most favorite Asher-ism is when he gets a really serious/surprised look on his face and he’ll say “D’ya hear that?”  Sometimes he asks when we can hear a helicopter or an airplane flying overhead.  Other times he does it for dogs barking or cars driving by.  It’s just so cute and precious.  I’m trying to capture it on video!

Asher likes to pray before meals and bedtime.  He’ll say “Dear Jesus, Amen!”  I think it’s a great start! I was helping him pray one night and he was repeating back to me what I said.  When I said, “Dear Jesus, I love you” he repeated back: “Dear Jesus, I love you Mommy.”  :)

We’ve gone backwards in our counting.  He now likes 8…9…10 (with extra emphasis on the 10) the best!  If we’re lucky he’ll say 1…8…9…10!

He sings the Thomas song all day and shocked me today when he was actually able to point out (correctly) each of the engines.  What is it about boys and trains?!  He has Thomas books, but loves a little Thomas catalog we got at a store.  He will (literally) “ooh and ahhh” over it and say things like, “So cool!”  :)

The other day on the way to MOPS I told him we were going to play with kids and that he needed to be nice.  I also told him Mommy was going to go bye-bye.  The whole way there he chirped, “Play with kids… nice” in the back seat.  :)  He did great until the last 5-10 minutes and when I went to get him he was a sobbing mess.  I know he needs the time to play with other kids, but it still broke my heart to see him SO upset.

The next day we had a play date so I told him again, “We are going to go play with kids!”  He responded with, “Play with kids, nice, mommy bye-bye.”  I think he was happy that mommy got to stay this time and didn’t go bye-bye.  The place we met friends had lots of fun equipment to play on and train tables.  For 1 hour and 45 minutes he played trains!  He didn’t even look at the other things!  He doesn’t know this, but a little toddler train table is on it’s way to our house!  I can’t wait to see how excited he will be!
