Well Asher, we survived the colossal winter storm of 2011!!
We were hammered with ice and sleet, and our neighbors to the north are currently snowed in with about two feet of snow!!! Good thing Nana and Papa made it to Florida just in time! ;)
We were expecting a huge storm with power outages so we were prepared with all the necessities:
- batteries
- candles
- firewood
- blankets
- non-perishable foods
- Mt. Dew
- Ghirardelli Brownies
The best part of the storm was having daddy home from school for THREE WHOLE days! The storm is pretty much over now, but we are covered in a blanket of ice and sleet. Our backyard is about 6 inches of completely solid snow and ice. In fact, when Daddy takes Daisy outside neither of them break through the ice – they can literally skate around on our backyard!
We prayed and prayed that we wouldn’t lose power because it’s awfully cold outside. LOTS of people did lose power, but not us – thank you Jesus!
Today, Daddy spent about 2 hours chipping and shoveling the ice from our driveway.
I think you started getting a little stir crazy because each time we’d get dressed for the day (in sweats and comfy clothes) you would ask where we were going. ha! Schools are cancelled again tomorrow, but perhaps by the afternoon we can make it to Target – just to get out for a bit! :)
Since we’ve been stuck at home it’s been sooooooo nice to have Daddy here, especially as an extra set of hands to help keep you occupied! We’ve played with play-doh, drawn pictures with crayons, made forts, played hide-and-go-seek, built tunnels, worked on our Valentine’s, read books, watched cartoons, and spent hours playing with cars and Thomas!
Someday when people are talking about the winter storm of 2011 you can say you lived and played through it, Asher-boy! I can’t think of anyone else I would have rather been snowed or iced-in with than you and Daddy! xo xo
