Asher-isms

It seems like every day Asher says something new to amaze us or make our hearts melt.  (He also does plenty of naughty things, but it’s more fun to dwell on the cute stuff!  Ha!)

When Chris comes home from work he always asks Asher what he did that day or if he went anywhere.  Asher always says yes and usually tells Chris we went somewhere that we didn’t actually go (like Chick-fil-A or Nana and Papa’s house).  So yesterday we went to the park and I told Asher afterward,  “You’ll have to tell Daddy we went to the park today when he gets home from work.”  I fully expected him to forget, but sure enough when Chris came home Asher went RUNNING over to him saying, “Went to the playground!” over and over.  He proceeded to tell Chris that he went through the tunnel and on the slide and he saw a goose.  Then he said, “Goose has a long neck.”  He and I never talked about that and neither did he and Chris so we were both amazed that he made that connection!

This morning we had MOPS so I told Asher we were going to church to play with the kids.  He LOVES playing with other kids.  He cried when I dropped him off (of course), but did great the rest of the time.  When I picked him up he looked over my shoulder and waved at the kids still in the nursery and said, “Bye Kids!”  :)  So sweet!  In the car he said, “I share in the kitchen” so I’m assuming he played with the kitchen set and hopefully he really did share!  He hasn’t had too much practice in the sharing department yet…  As much as I LOVE my time at MOPS with the other ladies I wish I could be a fly on the wall and see how he actually does with the other kids.

We got Asher a DVD (or a dvdvd as he calls them) that works on letter sounds.  It sings a song: “the A says, ah – the A says, ah, every letter makes a sound, the A says, ah” etc.  He likes to sing that throughout the day for A-C, but the other day we heard him say, “The car says beep, the car says beep, every makes a sound, the car says beep!”  So funny!

Asher likes Chris to tell him stories and they usually consist of the main characters: Asher and Daisy girl!  So now if you ask Asher to tell you a story he’ll say, “Once a time… a dog named DAISY GIRL!”  and he’ll smile SO BIG!  I love the ‘once a time’ part the best.

Asher is so good about folding his hands and closing his eyes when we pray.  Before bed he’s starting to take a turn praying too.  It’s very sweet to hear him rattle of names of family members to pray for.  Last night’s prayer also included thanking God for paci’s!  Ha!

Everyone always talks about how hard the Two’s are – and we are close enough to them that I think I can safely agree… but they are also very sweet so I’m thankful that even though one minute Asher might be throwing a tantrum, the next minute he’s giggling about a silly joke or snuggling with me to read books.  :)
