Asher has started more independent imaginative play and it’s so fun to watch! He has his trains talk to each other. Today he brought me Gordon and Thomas and had them face each other and Thomas said, “Hi Gordon! How are you?” Gordon responded, “Good!” :)
The other day he was watching Thomas cartoons with my mom before breakfast. Toby was in the cartoon so he ran to his table to get his Toby Train. He brought him over to the TV and said, “Toby, do you see the 'toon?” and Toby responded, “I do! I do!” So cute!
When we were playing trains together yesterday we were racing them around the track and chase each other. Today while he was playing alone I could overhear, “Oh no! I’m coming to get you…” with crashing sounds and lots of laughter.
Even today while we were running errands he was saying things from the backseat like, “Watch out, Mommy!” and then laughing and laughing.
He is so animated and funny that I wish I could just bottle up his enthusiasm and save it!!

Just a couple random milestones I might want to remember…
Asher officially only uses his pacifier in his crib so he gets it for naps and night time. We had gotten lazy about letting him use it while we ran errands because it was easier to grocery shop if he was content. ;) But, he’s doing really well now! Sometimes he’ll ask for a paci and then crack up laughing because even he knows he doesn’t get it until he’s sleeping. I don’t really know when we’ll take them away permanently… but I’m not worried about it! If it helps him sleep I’m fine with it!!
And speaking of sleep… Asher is doing well napping again. I am SOOOOO glad I didn’t listen to all the people who said some kids just give up naps at 18 mos. or 2 years old!! I knew Asher wasn’t ready to be done napping so we hung in there. He was getting pretty stubborn about them and definitely NOT sleeping more than he was sleeping… but we stuck with it and now he is back to napping almost every day. He has the occasional day where he doesn’t nap at all, but he still goes in his crib for a rest. He can handle a day or two of missing naps so it does make life easier if we have a special event in the afternoon or something like that… but overall, I’m so thankful he’s still napping and I PRAY it will continue for a long, long time.
Transitioning Asher to “things” in his crib took a while because he didn’t sleep with any type of toy or blanket as a baby. I have to laugh sometimes when I’m laying him down now because he has a small pillow, multiple ‘lovey’ blankets, a larger blanket I cover him with, two stuffed puppies and about four pacifiers!! Thankfully there is still room for him!! :)
