Happy New Year & Christmas in Ohio!

“Celebrating” on New Year’s Eve has been different for a few years now. (Ha!  Not that we were ever big party animals… but we used to at least go out to eat or see a movie!!)  We took the boys bowling in the afternoon and had fun as our little family of four.  Asher loved it and Jesse happily watched from the stroller.

After the boys were in bed on New Year’s Eve Chris and I enjoyed watching a few episodes of our Christmas Break show (we usually pick a show we have never seen and will watch it straight through over long breaks like Christmas or Summer… past shows have included 24, prison break – though we couldn’t finish that one, Modern Family, Covert Affairs etc.)  This break our show was White Collar.  Kind of random, but we LOVE it!  We still have lots of episodes so you know what we’ll be watching on the weekends for a few more weeks!  :)  GOOD THING one of my resolutions was not to watch less tv. ;)  We also played a few rounds of Just Dance on the wii before collapsing back on the couch in time to watch the ball drop!

New Year’s Day we loaded up the boys and headed to Cincinnati to celebrate Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa Atkinson.  We had a great day!  We unfortunately forgot our camera at home so we only have a few iPhone pics.

Asher had SO much fun opening all his presents and digging into his stocking.  PS I should have taken a better picture of the awesome stockings my sister-in-law knitted for each of the grandkids.  They are amazing!

I L-O-V-E the fresh start of a New Year.  I love trying to start anew with organization and all my resolutions.  This year I spent a long time coming up with goals/resolutions for this coming year and I’m prayerful that some of them will stick!  And as much as I really do love starting a brand new year I’m always convicted that as Christians we don’t have to wait until January 1st to start fresh.  Without sounding too cliché, what a joy to know that each new day is a gift from the Lord and a chance to start fresh regardless of what we’re going through or what has happened we can rest in this promise:

“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  I say to myself, ‘The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.’  The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.”  Lamentations 3:22-26
