Birthday Bash!

We had a wonderful day (Saturday) celebrating Asher’s first birthday!  He took two great naps that day and woke up happy and well-rested… perfect for his big day!!We decorated while he napped so he woke up to lots of balloons and crepe paper, which he loved.  :)

We were joined by both sets of grandparents, Asher’s Aunt Liz and Uncle Joel (along with their adorable foster girls), and our church small group friends!  We ate hot dogs, brats, calico beans, potato salad, chips and dip, fruit salad, and cake!  I love a cook-out! 

He didn’t exactly love his birthday crown, but we got a quick picture with it on…  (I got the sewing pattern for the crown and the tissue paper poms from this blog.)

Asher had his own personal “smash” cake that he LOVED (and devoured). 

 

Apparently it was very serious business! :)

Asher seemed to enjoy his party and just took everything in!  There was no shortage of kids to watch and play with, and he did great with a house-full of girls!  He also had a ball opening his presents!

We tried to get a group shot of Asher with all his little “girlfriends”… I think he got scared when all the adults started calling his name to get him to smile!

His little face makes me so sad!  I’m sure we’ll look back at that picture someday and laugh though!  :)  I just had to jump in and rescue him!

It was a GREAT day!  We are so glad our small group friends could join us, along with all their sweet little girls.  We’ve had the privilege of praying for most of these girls since before they were born and love each of them.  We were thankful that Liz and Joel could join us with their sweet foster girls.  They are precious, and we were so glad to get a chance to meet them and look forward to more time with them in the future!  We’re also SO thankful for our parents who are always so helpful and supportive whether it’s decorating for a party or picking up supplies or just loving on Asher and us.

 

Happy Birthday, Asher!  You were a wonderful boy at your party and we love YOU so much!
