On our way to Minnesota we stopped in Wheaton, Illinois to see our friends the McKiddie’s. Their daughter Kate is a little bit older than Asher and a precious girl. She will make an awesome big sister to her little brother coming in the fall!
This would be a great shot for their wedding slideshow someday! ;)
Before going to the cabin I spent some time with my sister and her family in Minneapolis while Chris was in Denver presenting at an international technology conference. Sadly I don’t have hardly ANY pictures from our time in there since I was busy taking care of Asher and Daisy and just enjoying time with my sis and her hubby, and girls. We had fun going to the Como Park Zoo and of course, what trip to Minneapolis would be complete without a trip to the Mall of America?!? :) Thanks again for hosting us, Asher loved all his extra attention!! :)

Chris and I arrived at the cabin a day before my sisters so we went to the Hill Annex Mine State Park and Museum.
The Hill Annex Mine is an old Iron Ore mine pit (that is no longer being mined). The actual pit is now a beautiful spring-fed lake.
Here are Asher and his Papa with one of the huge scoops used to collect the iron ore.
The old clubhouse where the single miners lived has been turned into a museum. It has special significance to our family because my grandpa worked in that mine and my mom grew up there on the ‘location.’ My grandpa was in several of the exhibits and pictures, along with photos of my mom’s childhood home and her school.
My Mom’s childhood home that they later moved to another town after the mine closed.

It’s been a long time since I’ve gone to the mine and I’ve never taken Chris so it was fun to share it with him and Asher.
