19 months old!

Time marches on and somehow our sweet little boy is 19 months old today!  Glimpses of my baby are long gone and we are left with a happy, rambunctious, curious toddler!

We took this picture before leaving for our church’s Christmas Cantata tonight.  You stayed with us to enjoy all the music and did so well!

Sizes:
clothes – 18-24 month, though I’m mostly buying 24 month clothes since you’re right on the cusp of moving up…
shoes – 6
diapers – 4 (size 5 overnights)

Food:
You are still a bit of a picky eater these days.  We try to offer you what we are eating for dinner and sometimes you go for it, and other nights not so much.  Veggies are hit or miss but we keep trying!  Cheese, chicken, fruit, crackers, bread, milk, yogurt, and applesauce are always a hit though.

Personality:
You are our social butterfly and love to engage and interact with other people.  You can be shy with strangers, but as long as you feel comfortable with the person you will talk their ear off or play with them all day.  You had a particularly fun time with your big cousins at Thanksgiving.  You loved to run races with them in the basement and if you ever got knocked over you just hopped right back up and kept running, laughing the whole time.  Now that we’re home you like running races at our house.  You’ll go to one wall and say, “2, 3, GO!” and run your little heart out to the other wall.  You like to say 2 and 3, but won’t say 1.  :)

You will mimic ANYTHING we say so your words are pretty endless these days.  Some new words that you will say freely though are elephant, cheese, water, and you’ve perfected “Elmo” hitting all syllables now.  I already miss you calling him “Mo.”  You call Cookie Monster, “Nookie” which drives your father crazy, but I think it’s cute!  I’ve been trying to get you to say “thank you” for MONTHS with no luck.  The other day at Hobby Lobby a lady told you that you were cute so I said, “Say thank you” and as clear as a bell you said it!  You little show-off!!  :)  I LOVE to hear you say “please” it sounds more like peeze, and it’s music to my ears.

You have moments of complete defiance, stubborness, and temper tantrums.  Thankfully they are often fleeting, though they do happen quite regularly over things like not getting exactly what you want when you want it.

You will sometimes sign for emphasis on things and you usually sign please as you say it, but other than that you are just talking with words these days.

You love love love to read books and sing songs.  Most nights I catch you looking at the tree lights so we sing a few carols together and you love the “ha ha ha” of Jingle Bells!

 Favorite Things:
* Cartoons and Elmo!

* Daisy, she gets A LOT of love each day and is a very patient dog.

* Playing with other kids… you don’t love to go to the nursery, but you are fine once you’re there.  I think you just love being with other kids!

* The Christmas Tree!

Sleep:

Night time sleeping… you are still a champ!  Naps are another story.  You have been taking them every other or every third day which is SO frustrating for us!  We know you need your sleep, but you just fight it like crazy.  We keep putting you down and hope that naps will kick back in one of these days!  You did this when you were about 9 months old too, and eventually you came around.  Fingers crossed!

Asher, last Christmas you were little wiggly baby learning to sit up and scoot.  This year you are tearing around the house and pulling ornaments off the Christmas tree!  I can’t wait to see your excitement to open presents.  And as you get older I can’t wait for you to understand the importance of Christmas.  For so many people Christmas is a stressful time of year that involves shelling out lots of money as they chase the dream of presents and Santa.  I pray that you will always know that regardless of how many presents are under the tree the BEST gift we were ever given came in the form of a little Baby who left heaven to live among us and eventually died to save us from our sins!  We will teach you about Him every day and pray for the day that you make Him your Lord!

  1. So cute! Graham wouldn't say "1" either when counting at first. He also liked "2, 3, Go!" =) 19 months is so much fun! Enjoy your sweet boy!!!
