Father’s Day Weekend

The end of last week we had two special days with friends.  (Wish I would have thought to take pictures!)

Thursday we had lunch with good friends here in town that we don’t see nearly enough.  They have four kids (three of which are boys) so Asher had a ball running around and trying to wrestle with them.  It was a sweet glimpse of what life with boys will be like and I pray that our own boys will love each other just as much!

Friday we took a break from packing to meet some TU friends who were passing through Indy as they move from California to North Carolina.  Adam and Chris played football together at TU, and Chris attended their wedding out in L.A. last month.  I was so glad to get a chance to see Adam and meet his new wife since I couldn’t make it to the wedding.  Taylor friendships remain such a blessing to both of us!

Saturday was spent packing!!!  Asher has been a trooper despite a mom and dad who spend lots of time packing and organizing!  I pray that all the changes that are about to happen in his life don’t freak him out too much, but he’s so easy-going I have a feeling he might completely surprise me with how easily he’ll take everything.  Saturday morning was really RAINY here so he ran around in his jammies until lunch “helping” us pack, all the while being a complete ham!

We made a quick trip to the Splash park after lunch hoping to tire him out enough to nap and give him an outlet for all his extra energy.  After much fighting of the nap he (thankfully) gave in!

Today (Father’s Day!) we went to the early service of church and are spending the rest of the day relaxing, watching golf, and packing here at home.  Chris picked out his favorite dinner for tonight, enchiladas, and I also made the Pioneer Woman’s chocolate sheet cake!  Poor guy, I’ve been craving chocolate cake like crazy so today’s dessert is just as much for me as it is for him.  :)  Although I know a certain toddler who will be very excited there is cake when he wakes up from his nap…

I am so thankful for my husband and how seriously he takes his role as provider, protector, care-giver, leader, husband, daddy, and everything else!

We are both blessed with fathers who love us and continue to provide us with encouragement and support in so many ways.  Asher is blessed with two grandpas who are over the moon for him and the feeling is definitely mutual!  :)

Happy Father’s Day, Chris!  We LOVE you!!
